About Applied School House

A school for the people doing the work.

Applied School House offers professional development for RBTs and continuing education for BCBAs. It's taught by someone who still runs sessions, signs off on supervision and manages an RBT team.

Dr. Angela Hess

Head of School

Dr. Angela Hess, PhD, BCBA-D, LBA

Angela owns Applied Behavior and Learning Consultants, an in-home ABA agency serving families in Washington, Frederick and Montgomery Counties in Maryland. That means she has the same RBT PDU requirement every agency owner has, and she built Applied School House courses for her own staff first.

She has more than 20 years of experience educating and training ABA professionals while working with children, young adults and families. Her clinical work spans direct 1:1 services, staff and family training, supervision of home programs, school and community consultation, and the supervision of many BCBA candidates completing their fieldwork.

She has worked with clients with autism, ADHD, ODD, Down syndrome, a range of genetic disorders, and behavioral and emotional disabilities. She was a classroom teacher before ABA, and she also teaches university coursework in behavior analysis.

PhD, The Chicago School of Professional Psychology (2021) · MA, Ball State University (2013) · Board Certified Behavior Analyst–Doctoral (BCBA-D) · Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA)

How we build courses

Short, practical, and built for real sessions.

Rooted in the RBT role

Every RBT course expands on the RBT 40-hour curriculum, the RBT Ethics Code (2.0) or other BACB requirements.

Active, not passive

Knowledge checks run through each course, so learners respond, not just watch.

Documented correctly

RBTs receive the BACB's own “RBT Professional Development: ACE Event” form, never a homemade certificate.
